More Minions

The minions are all the rage right now.  I found a great link via Operation Write Home with directions on making a minion for a card.

  • Designer Paper:  My Minds Eye "Cowboy"
  • Cricut Cartridges:  Paper Doll Dress Up. Pretty Pennants.  Storybook.
  • Googly Eyes
A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"

Card Recipe:
  • Mat 1 (black) = 5 1/4" x 4". 
  • Mat 2 (pattern) = 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Pennants = cut at 1 1/2" from Cricut Pretty Pennants cartridge.  White gel pen used for faux stitching.  Pole was hand cut from brown shimmer paper.
  • "A" "P" = cut at 1/2" from Cricut  Storybook cartridge.



Minion =
  • Body (yellow) = cut at 1 1/2" x 3".  Round all corners at 1/2".
  • Arms (yellow) = cut two at 1/4" x 1 1/4".
  • Overalls (blue) = cut at 1 1/2" x 1 1/2".  Round bottom corners at 1/2".  Hand trim notches for overall top.
  • Top of Overalls (blue) = cut two at 1/4" x 1 1/4".  Black gems were added for buttons.
  • Legs (blue) = cut two at 5/8" x 3/4".
  • Goggles Strap (black) = cut at 1/4" x 2 1/2".
  • Eyes (gray) = circle punch two at 1/2".  Googly Eyes are glued on top.
  • Hands (black) = cut at 3/4" using real dial size from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge; [Suprgl][Accessories 2] found on page 57 of the folder.
  • Feet (black) = cut at 3/4"  using real dial size from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge; [Suprgl][Accessories 1] found on page 57 of the folder.
  • Hair = hand cut from black card stock.
  • Mouth = hand drawn with black pen.

OWH VCMP - No Greater Love

The tenth and final challenge is to create a card using the negative of the die cut.

Cricut Cartridges:  Elegant Edges, New Testament, Paper Doll Dress Up.
Designer Paper:  DCWV "The Old World Stack" 12" x 12" pack.
Sentiment:  CardzTV "Greater Love" stamp set.

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"

Card Recipe:
  • Mat 1 (black) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
  • Mat 2 (blue pattern) = 5 1/4" x 4".
  • Mat 3 (beige cardstock under the blue pattern) = 5 1/4" x 4".  This is for the negative cut on the crosses.
  • Mat Under Sentiment = cut with Gypsy or Cricut Craft room = cut at 1 1/2" height x 2 1/4" wide from Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge; [Dots1].
  • Sheep = cut at 1 1/2" from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up [ntvty2]; hiding all the contour lines.  I cut 3 images to create a chipboard effect.
  • Sentiment = from CardzTV "Greater Love" stamp set.

  • Three Crosses on a Hill = cut at 2.5" from Cricut New Testament cartridge; [Sermon].  Using the CCR, I cut the crosses out of my blue mat making the negative of the image.

My card was created using Mustaches and Glasses as well as Paper Doll Dress Up cartridges.

  • Mat 1 (brown) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
  • Mat 2 (checkered) = 5.25" x 4".  Paper from Echo Park "This and That" 6x6 pack.  Edges inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.
  • Mat 2 (brown) = 4.25" x 3.25". 
  • Mat 3 (brown pattern) = 4 1/8" x 3 1/8". 
  • Mat 4 (brown under sentiment) = 2.5" x 1".  White gel pen used for faux stitching.
  • Mat 5 (white under sentiment) = 2 1/4" x 7/8".  (cut to size of sentiment)
  • Mat 6 (brown border) = 5.25" x 1".

  • Sentiment "Happy Birthday Old Chap" = unknown source.  Sent to me already stamped on white mat.
  • Head = cut at 2" - real dial size - from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge; ; found on page 29 of the folder. 
  • Face = from Peachy Keen stamps "PK-490 Everyday Character Face Assortment", 1 3/8" size.  White gel pen used on the eyes.  Pink chalk used to make cheek color.  Image is mounted on foam tape.
  • Hat = cut at 1" - real dial size - from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge; found on page 30 of the folder.  Image cut twice to make the headband.  Edges inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.
  • Eye Glasses - cut at .25" from Mustaches and Glasses.  No cartridge or folder.  Image was purchased via Cricut Craft Room.
  • Mustache = cut at .5" from Mustaches and Glasses.  No cartridge or folder.  Image was purchased via Cricut Craft Room.
  • Bow Tie = cut at .75" - real dial size - from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge; found on page 30 of the folder.  Brown cardstock hand cut to make center of tie.

  • Mat 2 (yellow stripes) = 5" x 3.75".  Paper from Echo Park This and That pack. Edges inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.
  • Boy and Sunflower = cut image and shadow at 3.5" from Cricut A Child's Year cartridge; found on page 36 of folder.  Shadow paper from Echo Park This and That pack.  Gold stickles added to sunflower.  Image mounted with foam tape.
  • Grass Mound = cut at .75" from Cricut Paper Doll Dress-Up cartridge; found on page 78 of folder.  Paper from Echo Park This and That pack. Edges inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Miss You - City

Created for Operation Write Home
 

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25".

Mat 1 (blue) = 5 5/8" x 4 3/8".   Blue mat has been embossed using Paper Studio "Tiny Stars" folder.

City = cut to length at 5.25" from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge; <suprby><Accessories 3> on page 56 of folder.  

City was cut twice.   Once as listed above in dark blue.   Second time was cut in yellow with window cuts turned off.   Use either Cricut Craft Room or Gypsy to turn contours off.

Message bubble = image from basic cuts within Cricut Craft Room (free image).   I changed the image size to fit my sentiment (2.5" wide by 1.5" height.)

Sentiment "Miss You" = TPC Studio "Greetings" stamp set.   Stamp color is Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

All images have their edges inked with Tim Holtz Blue Jeans Distress Ink.

The message bubble image is mounted with foam tape.
