  • Birthday Text / Cross Word = cut and designed using Silhouette software.  Some letters are highlighted with a glitter pen.


  • Birthday Package = cut at 2" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; [PrtyLion][Icon] found on page 78 of the folder.  Top of package embossed with Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" folder.  Bottom of package embossed with Cuttlebug "Charles" folder.  Stickles and Glitter Pen added as highlights.  Image is mounted with foam tape.

Haunted House Scene

Hello, friends.  I've been trying to create a post for an upcoming challenge for Halloween.  Ugg - I'm brain locked.  Here is one of the cards that didn't make the cut for me:
 
 I created a Haunted House Scene with Flying Bats.
  •  
  • Designer Paper = K and Company "Halloween Mat" 4.75" x 6" pad.
  • Cricut cartridge = Create a Critter 2.
  • Sentiment = Handwritten
  • Punches = Martha Stewart (fence)

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"
Cricut Create a Critter 2
Card Recipe:
  • Mat 1 (lime green) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
  • Mat 2 (dark gray) = 5 1/4" x 4".
  • Fence = from Martha Stewart punch.  Mat was 1" x 4" before punching.

  • Haunted House = cut at 3 3/4" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; [PirtGost][Accessory] found on page 55 of the folder.  Haunted House is mounted with foam tape.
  • Bats = cut 1 bat at 1/2".  Cut 2nd bat with shadow at 1" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; [VampBee][Icon] found on page 59 of the folder.  White gel pen used for faux stitching.
  • Mat under sentiment = cut at 1/2" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; [VampBee][Phrase] found on page 59 of the folder.  Sentiment "Beware! is handwritten.

Jingle Bells

It's Christmas in July over at CardzTV.  Their challenge this week is to create any project as long as it is a Christmas Theme. 

I used the hanging bell image found in the Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge to make my card.

Design Paper = the Paper Studio "I believe in Santa" 8.5" x 11" pack.

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"

Card Recipe:
  • Mat 1 (dark blue) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
  • Mat 2 (red striped) = 5.25" x 4".  Edges inked with Tim Holtz Faded Jeans Distress Ink.
  • Mat 3 (dark blue border) = 5 3/8" x 1/2".  White gel pen used for stitching.
  • Sentiment "Jingle Bells" = from CardzTV "Home for Christmas" stamp set.  Sentiment heat embossed using Stampendous "Winter Wonderland Opaque" embossing powder.

  • White Stars = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; found on page 65 of the folder.  Images were cut 3 times for each star to create a chipboard effect.  White stars embossed with the Paper Studio "Tiny Stars" folder.
  • Pink/White Star = cut at 2.75" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; found on page 65 of the folder.  Images were cut 3 times to create a chipboard effect.  Before embossing with the Paper Studio "Tiny Stars", the folder was inked with Memento "Rose Bud" ink.

For this challenge we are using Cards in Envy Sketch #6. We are free to interpret the sketch in any way we wish as long as the basics of the sketch can be seen in our finished design.

I used the card sketch to create two children's birthday cards.

  • Mat 1 (stars pattern) = 5.25" x 4".  Corners rounded at 1/2 inch.  Paper from My Mind's Eye Party Time stack.
  • Rocket Ship = cut at 3" from Cricut Boys Will Be Boys cartridge; <Rocket> found on page 32 of the folder.  Rocket is mounted with foam tape.
  • Ribbon = from Michaels.
  • Silver brads = from Imaginisce.

Card Recipe:
  • Mat 1 (light green) = 5.25" x 4".  Mat has been embossed with Cuttlebug "Happy Birthday" folder.  Two corners are rounded at 1/2".
  • Mat 2 (pink scallop) = cut at 3" from Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge; found on page 21 of the folder.
  • Mat 3 (polka dot pattern) = cut at 3" from Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge; found on page 21 of the folder.  Paper is from DCWV Mainstreet Stack.
  • Elephant with Birthday Hat = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; found on page 76 of the folder.  Faux stitching on elephant's ears created with white gel pen.  Blue gem on hat is from Michaels.  Elephant is mounted with foam tape.
  • Balloons = cut at 1.25" from Create a Critter 2 cartridge; found on page 77 of the folder.  Balloons were cut twice to get the different colors.  Gel pen used on balloons for stitching.  Glossy Accents added to balloon cuts.  Twine and bow attached is Friendship Twine from Walmart.
  • Ribbon = from Michaels.

BBTB2 Amethyst Color Birthday Cake or Cupcake

The folks at Bitten by the Bug 2 (BBTB2) have a new challenge.  This week the challenge is to create an Amethyst (purple) colored birthday cake or cupcake.  As always, the card must be made using a Cricut Cartridge. 

Here is my card: 

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"
Card uses Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge
My card uses a birthday cake cut found in the Create a Critter 2 cartridge.

Here is how my card was created:
  • Mat 1 (light purple) = 4" x 2.5".  Mat has been embossed using Cuttlebug folder "Spots and Dots."
  • Mat 2 (purple polka pots) = 4: x 2.5".  Paper is from Canvas Home Basics "Purples Cardstock."
  • Mat 3 (darker green) = 2.75" x 2.75".  Edges of mat inked with Tim Holtz Pealed Paint Distress Ink.  Mat is mounted with foam tape.
  • Mat 4 (lighter green) = 2.5" x 2.5".  Mat has been embossed using Cuttlebug folder "Swiss Dots."  Edges and raised embossing has been inked with Tim Holtz Pealed Paint Distress Ink.
  • Cake and Stand = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; <PtyMky><Icon> on page 75 of the folder.  Gold stickles has been added to the candle flames.  Liquid Pearls Lavender Lace has been added along the center of the cake.  Edges of some layers have been inked with Tim Holtz Pealed Paint Distress Ink.  Cake is mounted with foam tape.
  • Ribbon = purchased at Michaels.
  • Accents = White gel pen and Liquid Pearls Lavender Lace added to bottom of card front.

The folks at Cards in Envy are hosting a sketch challenge on the first Monday of each month, beginning February 4, 2013.

Here's how I made my card:
  • Mat 1 (yellow spotted) = 5.25" x 4".  Paper colors from Cricut Imagine More cartridge.
  • Mat 2 (green flower pattern) = 5.25" x .75".  Paper colors from Cricut Imagine More cartridge.
  • Bee = cut at 2" using "flip feature" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge.  <HeartBee> found on page 31 of folder.  Paper colors from Cricut Imagine More cartridge.  Bee is mounted with foam tape. 
  • "Bee mine" = cut at 1" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge.  <HeartBee> <Phrase> found on page 31 of folder.  Paper colors from Cricut Imagine More cartridge. 
  • Hearts on lower right corner = extra hearts from Bee - cut at 2" relative size & flip feature.  <HeartBee> <Layer-s> found on page 31 of folder.  Paper colors from Cricut Imagine More cartridge. 
  • Accents = Liquid Pearls "Biscue" used to create bee trail between bee and hearts.  Edges of mats and all images inked using Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Mat 1 (red pattern) = 5.25" x 4".  Paper colors from Cricut Imagine Mr. Frosty cartridge.
Mat 2 (pattern strip) = 5.25" x 1".  Paper colors from Cricut Imagine Mr. Frosty cartridge.

Mat 3 (black) = 3.25" x 3.25".
Mat 4 (red) = 3" x 3".

Koala Bear = cut at 2.75" from Create a Critter 2 Cricut cartridge; <KoalaHrt>; page 30 of folder.  Image colors are from Cricut Imagine Mr. Frosty cartridge.

Sentiment "miss U" = printed onto pattern paper using Cricut Craft Room Basic images.

Accents = edges of koala bear inked using Tim Holtz Rose Bud ink.  Pink bow on koala bear is friendship twine purchased from Walmart.  Koala image is mounted using foam tape.

This card was designed using Operation Write Home (OWH) Sketch #1.

Monkey Birthday Card

"S" fold card.

Card base is created normally, 5.5" x 4.25". Fold top back over on top of itself to create the "S".

Paper color from Cricut Imagine "Yummy" cartridge.

Mat 1 (gift pattern) = 5.25" x 4"
Mat 2 (brown pattern) = 5.25" x 1 7/8" - cut two
Mat 3 (beige behind monkey and inside of card) = 2.5" x 2.5" - cut two
Mat 4 (gift pattern behind monkey) = 2.25" x 2.25"

Monkey = cut at 2.25" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge, <PrtyMnky>, page 75 of folder.  Top of birthday hat accented with Stickles.

Monkey is attached with foam tape.
