Grasshopper Greetings

Hello, Friends.  The challenge this month with Our Daily Bread is to create a card with an insect.  I chose to create a card with this cute grasshopper from Miss Kate's Cuttables.

A2 Sized Card = 5.5" x 4.25"

• Grasshopper image from Miss Kate's Cuttable's.  Grasshopper cut 3 times to create a chipboard effect.  Edges inked with blue chalk ink.
• Paper colors from Doodle Pantry.

• Banner and grass purchased through the SIL store.  
• Sentiment from Doodle Pantry.
• Flower from Mauvy punch.  Center has Liquid Pearls.

• Inside of card decorated with same paper colors and grasshopper image.

You Complete Me

This A2 sized card created for the August 2013 Our Daily Bread challenge:  uses colors pink, green and brown. 

Cricut:  My Community cartridge
Embossing:  Cuttlebug "Houndstooth" folder.
Design Paper:  My Mind's Eye "Up & Away" 6"x6" pack.
Sentiment:  Scrappy Mom's "Designers Choice" stamp set.
Twine:  Friendship Twine found in children's craft section at Walmart.
Punch:  Martha Stewart punches.
Other:  Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Card Recipe:

• Mat 1 (green) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".  Bottom corners rounded at 1/2".
• Mat 2 (designer paper) = 5 1/4" x 4".  Bottom corners rounded at 1/2".
• Mat 3 (beige under sentiment) = 2" x 3".   Side corners rounded at 1/2".  Coloring created using Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  Mat has been embossed using Cuttlebug "Houndstooth" folder.
• Mat 4 (green punched border) = 4" x 1" before punching.  Punch design from Martha Stewart.  Pink twine wrapped around border before attaching.  

• Puzzle Pieces = cut at 1" from Cricut My Community cartridge; [Puzzle1] and [Puzzle2-s] found on page 45 of the folder.  Images cut 3 times each to create a chipboard effect.
• Sentiment "You Complete me!" = from Scrappy Mom's "Designers Choice" stamp set.
• Hearts = from Martha Stewart punch.

• Inside of Card:
• Mat 1 (green) = 5" x 3 3/4".  Bottom corners rounded at 1/2".
• Mat 2 (white) = 4 3/4" x 3 1/2".  Bottom corners rounded at 1/2".
• Hearts = from Martha Stewart punch.

Love Flower

I created this card for the Our Daily Bread July 2013 challenge.  This month the challenge is stitching - faux or real. 

Paper from My Mind's Eye "Reunion" 6x6 pack.  Edges inked with Tim Holtz Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

Cricut Paisley cartridge

Card Recipe:

• Mat 1 (dark blue) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
• Mat 2 (green pattern) = 5.25" x 4".   Mat has been embossed with Cuttlebug "Honeycomb" folder.

• Flower = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Paisley cartridge; found on page 33 of the folder.  White gel pen used for faux  stitching.
• Twine = from the Paper Studio.
• Sentiment "Sending you love!" = from CardzTV "Encouraging Thoughts" stamp set.  Mats under sentiment are hand cut to size.

• Fence = from Martha Stewart punch.  Fence mounted with foam tape.
• Small Flowers = from Martha Stewart punch.  Centers of small flowers made from Liquid Pearls.

Card Recipe:

• Mat 1 (red) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".  Edges inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.
• Mat 2 (white) = 5" x 3.75".  Mat embossed with Cuttlebug Spots and Dots folder.
• Mat 3 (red border) = 4 3/8" x 2 3/8".  Edges inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.
• Mat 4 (blue and white polka dot) = 4.5" x 2.5".

Cricut Boys Will Be Boys cartridge

• Sailboat = cut image and shadow at 3" from Cricut Boys Will Be Boy cartridge; found on page 77 of folder.  Red portion inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  Image is mounted with foam tape.

• Twine = from the Paper Studio.  Knot is glued to card to prevent it coming off.

Inspiration for this card came from here, found on Pinterest.

Here's how I made my card:

• Mat 1 (solid orange) = 5.25" x 4".
• Mat 2 (checkered pattern) = 5" x 3.75".  DP from DCWV Mainstreet Stack.  Edges of mat are inked with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
• Pelican = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Life's a Beach cartridge; <Pelican> found on page 78 of the folder.   Eye of pelican is Viva Decor Pen "Black".  Pelican is mounted on foam tape.
• Shrubs and stump pelican is perched upon = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Life's a Beach cartridge; <Shrubs> found on page 78 of folder.  Pattern paper on shrubs is from DCWV Mainstreet Stack.  Edges of cuts inked with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink.  Multiple cuts made with different pattern paper to create the layers of shrubs.
• Seagulls = cut at 2.25" from Cricut Life's a Beach cartridge; <Seagulls-s> found on page 79 of folder.   Edges of seagulls inked with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
• Scallop behind sentiment = cut at 1.5" from Cricut Mini Monograms cartridge; <crclsclp> found on page 129 of folder.
• Circle behind sentiment = 1" circle punch from Martha Stewart punch. Edges of circle inked with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
• Sentiment "G'day mate!" = from Scrappy Mom "Amusing Animals" stamp set.  Memento Tuxedo Black ink used.
• Ribbon = from Michaels.

2nd version of same card

Another version of same card and cuts.  Pelican and Stump were cut at 2.25".  Twine used instead of ribbon and there are no seagulls.  Sentiment moved to side of stump.
