Birds on Banner Birthday Card

My daughter turns 40 in November.  Do you know how old that makes me feel?  LOL!  I've decided to make and mail 40 birthday cards to her.  Here is card #1.

Cricut Cartridge:  Birthday Bash
Designer Paper:  My Mind's Eye "Sky's the Limit" 6"x6" pad.
Punch:  Martha Stewart border punch
Other:  Washi Tape

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"

Card Recipe:

• Mat 1 (polka dot) = 5.25" x 4".
• Border = 1.5" x 5.25".  Border punch from Martha Stewart.  Washi tape added across the bottom of border.

 

• Birds and Banner = cut at 3" from Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge; [Surprise] found on page 48 of the folder.  Image is mounted with foam tape.  *Note:  The eyes layer were too small when cut to be used.  Eyes were created using black pen.

• Mat 2 (white) = 4.75" x 3.5".

Cards in Envy - For the Birds

Welcome to another Cards in Envy Challenge!  For this challenge we are to create an A2 sized card (5.5" x 4.25") that has something with a bird as the main theme.  Only requirement is that the card is 1/4" or less in thickness in order to fit in an envelope.

For my card, I chose to create a tri-fold (S-Fold or Z-Fold) card.   My bird image is from the Cricut cartridge Birthday Bash.

Designer Paper = My Mind's Eye "Sky's the Limit"; 6" x 6" pack.
Cricut cartridges = Birthday Bash, Elegant Edges.

Front Flap:

• Mat 1 (black) = 2" x 5 3/8".
• Mat 2 (red striped) = 1 7/8" x 5 1/4".
• Zig Zag = from EK Success border punch.

• Scallop:  cut image and shadow at 3 3/4" from Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge; [Scallop1-s][Oblong] found on page 23 of the folder.  White gel pen used for stitching.
• Bird with Envelope:  cut at 3" from Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge; [Bird3] found on page 34 of the folder.  Bird's body embossed with Cuttlebug "Charles" folder.  White and Black gel pens used for stitching.

Center Flap:

• Mat 1 (black) = 2" x 5 3/8".
• Mat 2 (note book pattern) = 1 7/8" x 5 1/4".
• Zig Zag = from EK Success border punch.

Mat 2 (yellow/white dots) = 5.25" x 1".  Paper from My Mind's Eye "Oxford Lane" 6x6 pack.
Mat 3 (blue) = 3" x 3".  Edges inked with Tim Holtz Faded Jeans Distress Ink.  White gel pen used for faux stitching.

Bunny with Gift = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge; found on page 27 of the folder.  I didn't use the bow cut and used bakers twine instead.  Edges of bunny inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  White gel pen used for faux stitching.  Face on bunny from Peachy Keen "PK-757 Wide-Eyed and Bushy Tailed Face Assortment."

Birthday Card

Pattern paper colors from Cricut Imagine Audrey cartridge.

Mat 1 (black) = 5.25" x 4"

Mat 2 (pink) = 5.25" x 3".  Attach before other mats directly onto Mat 1.

Mat 3 (blue pattern - cut two) = 2" x 3".  Mats have been matted on an additional black mat (cut to size).  Attach with tape and overlap some on pink Mat 2.

Mat 4 (green pattern) = 1.25" x 3".  Mat on black card stock and attach with foam tape.  Once matted, it will overlap some on the two blue Mat 3 images.

Birthday Candle = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge, <Candle2> on page 52 of folder.  Gold stickles added to flame.  Glossy Accents added to "melted wax".   Attach candle with foam tape.

Sentiment "Happy Birthday!" = from TPC Studio "Greetings" stamp set.

Gifts = cut at 2" from Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge; page 43 of Cricut folder <Gifts>

Sentiment = "Welcome Santa!" Scrappy Moms "Winter Wishes" stamp set.

Accents:  Interior of wheels on the train are from Imaginisce.  White fluffy smoke from train is Liquid Applique.  Stickles added to ribbons on packages.  White gel pen also used.

Train tracks were created using this Martha Stewart punch.  After punching, I hand trimmed the outside portion.
