Thinking of You Today

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"

This is probably the fastest and easiest card I've ever created.  I saw something similar on Pinterest that I used for my inspiration.

Here's how to make this card.
  • Mat 1 (solid purple) = 5.25" x 4".  Stamp sentiment just below vertical center.
  • Mat 2 and Mat 3 (purple polka dots) = 4" x 3" before punching.  Punch the top of each with EK Success Zigzag Punch.  The glue the punched part back on to the mat creating the wavy zigzag design.  Attached mats one on top of sentiment and one below sentiment.  Cut excess mat off.
  • Button = Martha Stewart punch.  Bow is Friendship Thread purchased at Walmart.
  • Sentiment = My Pink Stamper stamp set. (no longer available)

Inside of card.
  • Mat 1 (solid purple) = 4.75" x 3.5".
  • Mat 2 (white) = 4.5" x 3.25".
  • Zipzag = from EK Success punch.  Punched using left over polka pot paper used on card's front.

BBTB2 Amethyst Color Birthday Cake or Cupcake

The folks at Bitten by the Bug 2 (BBTB2) have a new challenge.  This week the challenge is to create an Amethyst (purple) colored birthday cake or cupcake.  As always, the card must be made using a Cricut Cartridge.

Here is my card:

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"
Card uses Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge
My card uses a birthday cake cut found in the Create a Critter 2 cartridge.

Here is how my card was created:
  • Mat 1 (light purple) = 4" x 2.5".  Mat has been embossed using Cuttlebug folder "Spots and Dots."
  • Mat 2 (purple polka pots) = 4: x 2.5".  Paper is from Canvas Home Basics "Purples Cardstock."
  • Mat 3 (darker green) = 2.75" x 2.75".  Edges of mat inked with Tim Holtz Pealed Paint Distress Ink.  Mat is mounted with foam tape.
  • Mat 4 (lighter green) = 2.5" x 2.5".  Mat has been embossed using Cuttlebug folder "Swiss Dots."  Edges and raised embossing has been inked with Tim Holtz Pealed Paint Distress Ink.
  • Cake and Stand = cut at 2.5" from Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge; <PtyMky><Icon> on page 75 of the folder.  Gold stickles has been added to the candle flames.  Liquid Pearls Lavender Lace has been added along the center of the cake.  Edges of some layers have been inked with Tim Holtz Pealed Paint Distress Ink.  Cake is mounted with foam tape.
  • Ribbon = purchased at Michaels.
  • Accents = White gel pen and Liquid Pearls Lavender Lace added to bottom of card front.

Inside of card
Inside of card:
  • Mat 1 (purple polka dots) = 5" x 3.75".
  • Mat 2 (solid purple) = 4" x 3.5".  Edges of mat inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.

On a Fence

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"
Card uses Cricut Give a Hoot cartridge
I can't remember if I saw something similar to this fence on Pinterest or if I dreamed it, or both.  I went back thru my Pinterest "pins" and couldn't find what I thought I was looking for.. anyway, here's how I made my card:
  • Mat 1 (solid green) = 5.375" x 4.125" (5 3/8" x 4 1/8")
  • Mat 2 (beige / fence) = 5.25" x 4" - before punching.
  • Fence = to create the fence, use Mat 2 and punch along the top with EK Success Zig Zag punch.  Then take the zig zag and glue it back on the top to make the pointy part of the fence.  I used a brown colored pencil and a ruler to draw the lines down the fence (every 1/4"), creating the panel look of the fence.  I then went over the entire fence cut with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink using long brush strokes.
  • Flowers and Grass = cut at 1.75" from Cricut Give a Hoot cartridge; <Deer1><Border>, on page 30 of the folder.   I cut an addition set of tulip tops and mounted on top of first set with foam tape.
  • Ribbon = purchased at Walmart.

Inside of card

Inside of card.  The flowers and grass you see where originally cut too small for the card's front, so I just added them here.
  • Mat 1 (beige) = 4.75" x 3.5".  Edges of mat inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.
  • Flowers and Grass = cut at 1.5" from Cricut Give a Hoot cartridge; <Deer1><Border>, on page 30 of the folder.

  • Message Bubble "Ahoy" image mat 1 (black) = cut at 1.3" from Create a Critter cartridge; <Cow><Phrase>, on page 60 of the folder.   Paper colors from Buccaneer Imagine Cricut cartridge. Edges of mat inked using Tim Holtz Faded Blue Jeans Distress Ink.

Edges of mat inked using Tim Holtz Faded Blue Jeans Distress Ink.  One side of the message bubble is mounted with foam tape, the other was taped directly to the mat.
    • To get the "Ahoy" on the message bubble:  I left the message bubble on my Cricut mat after is was printed and cut.   Using the Cricut Craft Room software (free software), I typed the word "Ahoy" in the center of the bubble image.   Text font used is from the free Cricut Craft Room Basic Images.  I did a solid fill of the text using the black color from Buccaneer Imagine Cricut cartridge.   I sent my Cricut mat back thru the Imagine using the "print only" feature.
