Snow Buddy Like You!

Welcome to another Cards in Envy Challenge!  For this challenge we are to create an A2 sized card (5.5" x 4.25")  that features one or more snowmen.  Only requirement is that the card is 1/4" or less in thickness in order to fit in an envelope.

Here's is my Snowman card.

• Designer Paper = The Paper Studio "I Believe in Santa" 8.5" x 11" pack.
• Cricut cartridge = Winter Woodland
• Sentiment = CardzTV "Home for Christmas" stamp set.
• Embossing = Cuttlebug "Snowflakes" folder.
• Ribbon = from Michaels
• Punch = Martha Stewart (heart on inside of card).

Card Recipe:

• Mat 1 (red striped) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
• Mat 2 (white) = 5 1/4" x 4".
• Mat 3 (blue border) = 2" x 4".
• Sentiment "All hearts come home for Christmas" = from CardzTV "Home for Christmas" stamp set.  Stamp sentiment before embossing.
• Mats 2 & 3 were embossed together using Cuttlebug "Snowflakes" folder.
• Ribbon = from Michaels.

• Snow Woman = cut at 3 3/4" from Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge; [Snwoman] found on page 47 of the folder.  Eyes were hand drawn onto snow woman's face.  I cut the [Blackout] of the image twice and attached to the image.  This gives the image a chipboard effect.

OWH VCMP - Peace, Love, Joy

The fifth OWH VCMP challenge is to use the masking tape block stamping technique.  This technique involves placing masking tape on your stamping block and then inking it when stamping.

Designer Paper:  DCWV "Old World Stack" 12" x 12" pack.
Sentiment:  CardzTV "Home for Christmas" stamp set.

Card Recipe:

• Mat 1 (blue pattern) = 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
• Mat 2 = 5 1/4" x 4".  White card stock stamped using the masking tape block technique.  I used painter's tape and inked it with Tim Holtz Faded Jeans Distress Ink.
• Sentiment "Peace, Love, Joy" = CardzTV "Home for Christmas" stamp set.

• Trees = cut at 3 1/4" from Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge; [Trees] found on page 37 of the folder.  Trees cut twice to give more depth.

OWH VCMP - Triple Die Cutting

The third challenge for the OWH Labor Day VCMP is to make a card using triple die cutting.  Seongsook's blog provides a tutorial for using dies (which I don't own).  So, I accomplished the same cuts by creating a SVG file and cutting it with my Cricut.

Nested SVG rectangles:

• Mat 1:  4" x 5.25"
• Mat 2:  3" x 4.25"
• Mat 3:  2" x 3.25"

Solid gray mats:

• Mat 1:  5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
• Mat 2:  3.25" x 4.5"
• Mat 3:  2.25" x 3.5"

• Snowman = cut image and shadow at 2 3/4" from Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge; [Snowman] found on page 46 of the folder.  Snowman cut 3 times to create a chipboard effect.

Operation Write Home:  VCMP Challenge #3

A2 sized card.

Trees : cut at 3.5" from Winter Woodland Cricut cartridge, page 37 in folder, <Trees>.  Paper color used for trees is from Cricut Imagine More cartridge.

Sentiment:  "There's Snow one like you!" from Scrappy Mom's "Winter Wishes" stamp set.


Snowflake stamps:  Stampabilities Barrel of Stamps "Christmas"

Accents:  Snow on bottom and on tree tops:  Liquid Applique.  Stickles added to tree on far right.  Third tree also mounted on foam tape.
