OWH Sketch 175

Flowers on a Fence.

Operation Write Home Sketch #175  I have to admit, when I first saw the sketch I really didn't care for it.  It looked just too ... blah?  A border and four one inch squares.  But, once I started, I liked the results.  I changed the border into a fence and the four one inch squares into four one inch flowers.  And I rounded a couple of the corners. The extra flowers that I added are covering up an oops (Liquid Pearls smear).  Here is my card:

A2 sized card = 5.5" x 4.25"
Card Recipe:
  • Mat 1 (white) = 5.25" x 4".  Mat embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  Two corners rounded at 1/2".
  • Mat 2 (turquoise and white polka dots) = 4.75" x 3.5".  Paper from My Mine's Eye "Sky's the Limit" cardstock.  Two corners rounded at 1/2".

Martha Stewart punches
  • Fence = cut white cardstock at 1.5" x 4" then punch with Martha Stewart punch.
  • Flowers = from Martha Stewart punch.  Center of flowers are Liquid Pearls.  Paper from My Mine's Eye "Sky's the Limit" cardstock.

  • Sentiment "If friends were flowers . . .  I'd pick you!" = from Scrappy Moms "Designer's Choice" stamp set.
  • White half brads = from Imaginisce.

Inside of Card:
  • Mat 1 (pink pattern) = 5" x 3.75".  Paper from My Mine's Eye "Sky's the Limit" cardstock.
  • Mat 2 (white) = 4.75" x 3.5".

  • Fence = from Martha Stewart punch.  1/2" x 3.75".
  • Flower = from Martha Stewart punch.  Center of flower is Liquid Pearls.  Paper from My Mine's Eye "Sky's the Limit" cardstock.

  1. Now I see how you flip the center image and changed it up. Came out very nice.

  2. I love how you replaced the squares with the fence. I also appreciate the time you spent on the inside of the card; something I never seem to have the time for.

  5. That is so bright and pretty! I love how you changed the sketch, and I'll have to remember to use that punch with flowers! I've been sticking to houses with it. I've always said "oops" are embellishment opportunities, but it was nice to hear someone else had pearl pen problems! I couldn't make three the same size at all yesterday, so I finally switched to little tiles.

  6. So bright and cheerful, Marilyn, just like you! I really like what you did with the sketch and I totally understand pearl pen issues. I have given up on it! LOL I can never, ever get things even and I always seem to smear something. Thanks so much for sharing this great card!

  8. I love your take on the sketch! I like how you "flipped" it and used flowers instead of squares. And thanks for sharing the inside of the card...I never really think about doing anything for the insides.
